That's just one of the reasons our teams keep coming back every year. Not only do we run a great tournament, but we're in an ideal location for you to enjoy yourself between games. All of our gym locations are only a few minutes drive (or walk) from Historic Haddonfield where local merchants and restaurants really roll out the red carpet for the players and their families. |
| It's all for a good cause too. All tournament proceeds benefit community enhancement and sight conservation projects of the Haddonfield Lions Club. With someone losing their eyesight every twelve minutes, a sizable portion of the monies raised from the tournament will be donated to the world wide Campaign for SightFirst II to combat blindness. Please browse our website to find out how to make the most of your visit to Haddonfield, how to register, and to learn more about the people who benefit from this tournament. |
| About the Invitational Teams will be guaranteed 4 games over the two day tournament. There are multiple brackets for girls ages 10 through High School Competition levels A and B. Cost for two days is $425 per team, which includes tournament tee shirts for the girls. Last year, 80 teams from three states participated. Discounts are available for organizations sending several teams. For more information, please contact Lion Sam Donnellon.

Lions Clubs work to benefit "Beep Base Ball" This popular form of baseball played by blind and visually impaired athletes uses poles instead of bases. As the name implies, the ball actually beeps to allow players to locate the ball. Some partially sighted athletes wear blindfolds so they do not have an unfair advantage over totally blind competitors. Tournament proceeds help the Lions sponsor a local team. Lions provide free eye screenings to preschoolers for Ambylopia More commonly known as "lazy eye", this failure of the eyes to work together is not usually detectable without a proper exam. If untreated by the age of 6 or 7, permanent vision loss may occur. It is the most common cause of vision loss amoung children in the USA. So far, Lions in South Jersey's District 16C have been able to screen over 14,000 children, and have identified many who would not have otherwise known they had amblyopia. One portable SureSight screening device costs approximately $5200. The Haddonfield Lions supports the Camden Eye Center to help defray costs associated with the program, and screens hundreds of local children each year. |
